Cosplayer in the mirror

Cosplayer in the Mirror is a series of portraits inspired by anime, manga, and Japanese popular culture.
Rather than depicting characters, these paintings focus on the people behind them. Wigs, makeup, costumes, and references to fictional worlds appear as fragments within intimate portraits, suspended between observation and transformation.

Painted between 2018 and 2019, the series combines delicate drawing, visible corrections, and raw surfaces with bold areas of color. The figures seem caught in a private moment, as if standing in front of a mirror while testing a different version of themselves.

More than a celebration of cosplay, these works explore the subtle distance between the individual and the image they choose to inhabit.
